Coastside Veterinary Clinic Online Pharmacy and Prescription Policy
While it may be labeled as an "online pharmacy," please be aware that the MyVetDirect inventory and dispensing practices should not be compared to other internet pharmacy companies. MyVetDirect is operated by one of our trusted distributors, and online orders are managed solely by the staff at Coastside Veterinary Clinic.
You should use caution if you choose to purchase your pet's medication online or from a catalog, and we ask that you please refer to our "Online Pharmacy and Prescription Policy" below for more details.
Prescriptions filled by Coastside Veterinary clinic, whether in-house or from our website are guaranteed to be filled by qualified staff and come from a reputable source. We do not have this same level of confidence in internet based pharmacies. We have also been informed that the manufacturers of veterinary drugs will not sell directly to internet pharmacies. This means that the veterinary medications sold by these companies have been diverted from normal distribution channels, and any manufacturer warranty is void. Some of the products that they sell are produced for markets outside the United States, and are not manufacturered or labeled for sale in the United States. Due to the extended shipping and re-shipping required, some of these products may be damaged by environmental extremes. We are also aware of clients who have purchased products from the "mail-order" pharmacies which were expired by the time the client received them. Most importantly, pharmaceutical manufacturers will not guarantee their products if they are not purchased from and authorized seller, so if any problems develop, the pet owner is "on their own."
It is the policy of Coastside Veterinary Clinic that a written prescription will be provided directly to clients with a current patient relationship with the clinic (examination within the past 12 months) upon request. We do not, however, grant permission via phone or fax to outside pharmacies to fill veterinary prescriptions. We recommend that if you need a prescription via mail we can mail the refill to you from our clinic or you can visit our website and be linked to our qualified and approved on-line pharmacies to have items mailed directly to you.
